Vanguard University

Jose begins his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach for the Lions following a very successful two-year playing career at Vanguard. Jose transferred to VU from L.A. Harbor College in 2003 and finished with an outstanding senior year in 2004, helping the Lions earn their first GSAC Championship.  Hernandez was the third-leading scorer for the Lions with seven goals, including the game-winner in the overtime victory over Biola to earn VUSC the GSAC Co-Championship.

Prior to LA Harbor College, Hernandez was a part of a championship team in 1996-97 when his high school team, Morningside, Inglewood, won the Ocean League.  An enthusiastic forward, Hernandez will bring a fresh face to the VU coaching staff in 2005 and another tool to train a handful of youthful additions to the Lion roster.

Hernandez finished his undergraduate degree in History/Political Science last spring at Vanguard.
