Biography

The athlete:  Andrew transferred to VUSC from UC Irvine and begins his first season with the Lions…played one season at UCI for Coach George Kuntz…graduated from Paisley Grammar School in 2004…scored the most goals at PGS in 2001 and 2004…also ran cross country in high school…played for the Paisley United, Scotland’s National Team, for two years...has played soccer for 10 years…forward with great scoring potential…good speed and solid skills…brings in quality soccer experience for a young player…will fit nicely into VU’s system and fill a big scoring need…should be able to make a quick impact for VU…expect a stellar Lion career for Elliott.

The person:  Andrew was born in Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates, located along the south-eastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula…parents are Robert and Marilyn Elliott…was born on April 29, 1986…lived in Scotland for 18 years…has two sisters…teammates call him “Andy” for short…has not declared a major at this time…likes to eat steak…favorite movie is “Braveheart”…enjoyed reading “The Godfather”…roots for the Glasgow Rangers…favorite place is Paisley, Scotland…hobbies include running, reading, working out, and running…would like to meet his sports hero Zinedine Zidane…believes that racism is the biggest problem in the world…likes that his team has last year’s success to build upon…has learned from life that everything happens for a reason…competing in soccer has taught him to do what he loves and never give up…isn’t sure what he will be in the future.

His thoughts:  I picked Vanguard because of the academics and a successful soccer team.  I like the size of the university which allows me to be in a close knit community for good academics and a good soccer program.

Coach Dodge’s comments:  Andy is a transfer from UC Irvine and will be looked on to be a goal scorer for us this year.  His work rate and passion will make him one of the top forwards in the GSAC.
