Biography

The athlete:  Tim begins his junior after playing in 24 of 30 games last year……averaged 5.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game…was VU’s leading rebounder in 2004…transferred to VU from Washington State University in 2002 where he was a redshirt freshman on the football team…2001 graduate of San Clemente High School…was the Team MVP and All-League selection in basketball…played football, volleyball and basketball in high school…has played basketball for 13 years…has a dominant presence under the hoop…will be counted on to carry a large load inside for VU…has gained a lot of strength in the off season…look for Tim to have a breakout year…should provide an inside presence both on offense and defense…person of good character…has a strong spiritual walk…very well known on the VU campus…has the capacity to become a leader on and off the court.

The person:  Timothy was born on June 11, 1983 in San Clemente, California…son of Brian and Karen Burnette…people call him “Tim” for short…has a younger brother Steven, and sister Kristen…is an English major and a Music minor…sports hero is his dad…likes the movie “Perceptions Through a Brick Filter”…favorite TV show is “Everwood”…likes to eat his mom’s pumpkin cookies…loves the number five and his favorite colors are shades of blue…enjoys reading the Bible, drawing, sleeping, and listening to music…favorite place is his room…loves to root for the Oakland Raiders…believes that a lack of knowledge is the biggest problem in the world…has learned that life is like a box of chocolates: if you swallow it without chewing, you will miss out on experiencing the goodness within…wants to become a heaven dweller..

His thoughts:  Tim chose Vanguard for many reasons. He really enjoys the Christian community along with the high quality of education.

Coach Wilson’s Comments: “Tim is really respected on the VU campus. He is a leader in many student groups and has a strong value system.  He represents himself, the athletic program and the University with excellence.”
