The
athlete: Tim has been a starting center the majority of his four-year
career for the Lions…begins his final season at VU with 644 points and
520 rebounds in 90 games played…coming off his strongest season where
he averaged 8.2 points and 7 rebounds per game…has led VU in rebounding
for the past two seasons…transferred to VU from Washington State
University in 2002 where he was a redshirt freshman on the football
team…2001 graduate of San Clemente High School…was the Team MVP and
All-League selection in basketball…played football, volleyball and
basketball in high school…has played basketball for 13 years…good
athlete…will play big role in rebounding and defending under the
basket…team captain who has become a bigger presence in the paint over
the years…should be able to increase his offensive game as a
senior…named VU’s Co-Male Champion of Character in 2005…has a strong
spiritual walk…member of VU’s Champions of Character Program Center
LIONS…very involved as a student on campus…has had a well-rounded
career at Vanguard…look for him to excel as a senior.
The person: Timothy was born on June 11, 1983 in San Clemente,
California…parents are Brian and Karen Burnette…goes by "Tim" for
short…has a younger brother Steven, and younger sister Kristen…is an
English major and a Music minor…sports hero is his dad…likes to eat at
Chipotle…favorite movie is "And Then There Was One"…watches "The Wonder
Years" on television…loves any shade of blue…favorite number is
seven…roots for the Oakland Raiders…enjoys reading the Bible and other
literature, drawing, sleeping, and listening to music…favorite place is
heaven…would like to meet Jesus Christ…thinks that fashion is the
biggest problem in the world…favorite scripture is Romans 6:23…wants to
become a father and a man after God’s own heart.
Tim’s closing thoughts: Vanguard is a great place to grow, search
out your future, and seek God. I hope that somehow people will have
seen Christ through me while I was at VU. Hopefully, we as seniors,
will have left a legacy and started a tradition with the Athletics
Ministry and LIONS.
Coach Wilson’s Comments: Tim is a renaissance man. He sings, plays
the guitar, writes music, and leads worship in chapel. Tim comes from a
strong Christian background and he has strong morals and great
character.
