The
athlete: Thomas (Nik) comes to Vanguard from Woodcrest Christian High
School in Riverside, California…graduated in 2006…begins his time at VU
as a redshirt…will use 2006-07 to prepare for the future…played for
Coach Bob Barkely in the Big Sky League at WCHS…team captain in
2006…two-time All-League selection…received the Coaches’ Award as a
senior…averaged over 12 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks per game in
2006…led the league in blocks in his final season…helped WCHS finish
22-6 overall and 7-1 in the Big Sky League, winning the 2006 league
title…also played volleyball in high school…played three years of club
basketball for the Southern California Basketball Association…has
played the game for 12 years…great size…will push to add bulk during
his redshirt season…hopes to have a long future at Vanguard.
The person: Born Thomas Nikolai Bradford on May 1, 1988…he goes by
"Nik"…native of Orange County…parents are Jeff and Karen Bradford…has a
younger brother and sister…has chosen Business as a college
major…sports hero is Kevin Garnett…loves to eat…watches "Family Guy" on
television and the movie "Fight Club"…favorite color is red and number
is 21…roots for the University of Alabama football team…enjoys sleeping
and going to the beach…thinks that hypocrites are the biggest problem
in the world…likes the chemistry on the VU men’s basketball team…has
learned that life is hard but unavoidable…playing basketball has taught
him about teamwork, cooperation, and leadership.
His thoughts: I chose VUSC because of the community, the atmosphere,
and the growing basketball program. I like the people, the professors,
and that it’s close to the beach.
