The
athlete: Morgan will make his collegiate debut this season…redshirted
with the Lions in 2006…second-year student at Vanguard…2005 graduate of
Capital High School in Boise, Idaho…played basketball for Coach Ted
Hettinga at CHS and was an All-Conference Honorable Mention
selection…helped his team take fourth at State and become the Academic
State Champions…selected to play in the Idaho All-Star game…also played
soccer at CHS…has played basketball for ten years…left-handed
guard…good size and great "basketball IQ"…can play multiple
positions…member of VU’s LIONS program…used last season to improve his
skills and learn about the collegiate game…will be competing for a
position in 2007…could develop into a great future player for the Lions.
The person: Morgan was born in Portland, Oregon on September 30,
1986 to his parents Rich and Donna McGovert…has three sisters…is
majoring in Business Administration at Vanguard…sports hero is Reggie
Bush…likes to eat Puerto Rican food…favorite movie is "You, Me, And
Dupree"…loves the color black and the number 20…likes the television
show "Everybody Loves Raymond"…cheers for the Boise State football
team…enjoys playing beach volleyball, golfing, and spending time with
friends…thinks that people not knowing, therefore not demonstrating the
love of Christ is the biggest problem in the world…likes the chemistry
on his VU team…competing in basketball has taught him about discipline,
but has also learned that basketball is only a small part of life and
who someone is as a person…wants to become a devoted man of God.
His thoughts: I felt God was leading me to Vanguard. I love the
location, the Christian environment and the great people at VUSC.
