Vanguard University

The athlete: Garid, entering his third season with the Lions…one of only two current players who have played two seasons at VU…played his freshman season at Concordia University…was an all-CIF player at Ocean View High School…coming off a junior year that was plagued with injury and illness…has played 47 games and is averaging 10.8 points per game in his Vanguard career…talented player with a combination of strength and surprising quickness…sets a great example of hard work on both ends of the court…will provide stable senior leadership…very coachable and unselfish player…good shooter with solid all-around basketball skills…expect to see a career season from this senior.

The person: Garid was born in Long Beach, California on March 11, 1980…parents are Brian and Gail Beeler…nicknamed “G-Shock”…is a senior in Business Management…sports hero is his dad…he enjoys surfing and likes to eat at Pizza D’Orro…likes the TV show “The Rockford Files”…the person he would most like to meet is Jesus…favorite book is the Bible…loves the Lakers…has learned from life that he can do all things through Christ who gives him strength…athletics has taught him perseverance…desires to become whatever God has planned for him.

His thoughts: I selected Vanguard University because of Coach French.  I enjoy having professors that care about the students.
