Tim Anderson brings a wealth of coaching experience and a proven track record of success to Vanguard University. He joined the Lions after two impactful seasons as the lead assistant coach at Azusa Pacific University, where he played a pivotal role in guiding the Cougars to their first PacWest Conference Tournament title and a berth in the NCAA Division II Sweet 16 in 2023–24. His responsibilities included in-game strategy, defensive coordination, player development, recruiting, scouting, academic support, and social media management.

Before his time at APU, Anderson served as the lead assistant coach at Cal State Dominguez Hills. Where his defensive schemes and recruiting expertise helped the Toros achieve their second winning season in a decade and reach the CCAA Tournament semifinals for the first time in 11 years in 2021-22. 

Anderson’s collegiate coaching journey began at MiraCosta College, where he helped the Spartans secure their first winning season in four years during the 2019–20 campaign.

Before transitioning to the college ranks, Anderson spent seven highly successful seasons as head coach at Highland High School in Palmdale, his alma mater. He led the Bulldogs to a school-record 69% winning percentage (134–59), five league championships, two CIF Southern Section semifinal appearances, and the program’s first-ever CIF State Championship tournament berth. His leadership produced five league MVPs and seven All-CIF selections.

As a player, Anderson was a three-time All-Golden League honoree at Highland High, scoring over 1,500 career points and setting multiple school records for three-point shooting. He continued his playing career at Mt. San Antonio College before stepping away in 2008 to support his family during his mother’s illness.

Recognized for his elite defensive mind, meticulous preparation, and deep recruiting ties throughout the West Region, Anderson holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Kinesiology from California Baptist University. He resides in Orange County with his wife, Crystal, and their four children: Jayden, Samantha, Elijah and Nevaeh.
