If there has to be one trademark a Bill Reynolds, it is consistency. In Reynolds’ 7 years as head coach at Southern California College, the Vanguard have averaged 21 wins per season. Reynolds has guided SCC to the NAIA District 3 playoff berth each of the seven years and led them to the Golden State Athletic Conference Championship in 1987. along with the team achievements, Reynolds has been named NAIA District 3 coach of the year three times in his career at Southern California College.
Last season, Reynolds’ squad finished 19-15 overall, 10-4 in GSAC play, good enough for second place in the conference and a trip to the playoffs. Reynolds’ career record with the Vanguards is 147-68, a winning percentage of .683.
The Bolsa Grande High School counselor attended Burgus High In El Paso, Texas where he played both baseball and basketball. He went on to Chaffey College where he continued to excel in both sports. From Chaffey, he went to UC Santa Barbara, where he graduated from in 1962. He currently holds a B.A., M.A., Administrative Credential, and a Pupil Personnel Credential.
Prior to coming to SCC, Reynolds coached at La Quinta High School, where he won two league championships and Bolsa Grande High. He compiled a record of 167-139 in his 14 years of coaching on the high school level.
Bill and his wife, Shirley, currently reside in Irvine. They have 3 daughters, Terri, 25, Traci, 22, and Tina, 19.
