Parents: Matthew & Annie Metz
Birthday: April 27, 2004
2024-25: Metz started all 26 games for the Blue and Gold. He shot a career-best 37% from deep on a higher-volume, while also averaging a career-high in minutes (27.9). He also bumped up his FGM (91) and overall FG% (43.3) to reset his single-season best. Metz nearly had as many blocks (3) as he did missed FT's (27-31). As a passer, Metz increased his Asst/game number (2.7) while keeping the turnovers stable. He blew his previous single-game career-high away with a gutsy 13reb performance at Hawaii Pacific- his 1st career double-double. The rematch with Hawaii Pacific saw Metz score 10pts, with none more important than the three at last-second to force OT as part of the Lions' late 17-point comeback. The boxscore does not reflect just how impressive his performance at Chaminade was, as his six assists and zero turnovers despite the constant pressure of the Silverswords resemble only a snippet of what his peers and coaches described as one of the best games Metz has played as a Lion. Metz had 12 games in double-figures, including a season-high 20 at Academy of Art.
2023-24: Metz's second year with the Lions saw an increased role for himself, being elevated to a permanent role in the starting lineup. Once again, Metz was great from the charity stripe, going 88.6% from the line which would have been good enough for fourth in the GSAC (fell short of the minimum attempts of 50). He set his career high late in February against OUAZ with 22 pts (8-15 FG, 3-8 3PT). Those three 3PT's tied a career high for a single game, a standard he set earlier in the season on January 4 against Hope International. He improved his shooting marks from his previous season, and averaged 8.3 points per contest to go along with 2.5 rebounds. Metz also had a better season passing the ball, with a career high of eight assists in the second matchup against SAGU American Indian to help improve his Asst./Turnover ratio. He logged a career high 43 minutes in the January triple-overtime loss to OUAZ.
2022-23: In Metz' first year with Vanguard, he played in 26 games, starting two. Metz scored in double-figures seven times, including for the first time at Westmont. He helped Vanguard upset #1 Arizona Christian with 14pts, 10 of which came in the final 2:17 to seal it. It was the program's first ever win over a No.1-ranked team.
