athlete: Brian is back for his second season with the Lions…had a
productive freshman year, playing in all but one game and starting
14…averaged 7.8 points per game while sinking 49 treys, second highest
on the team…came to Vanguard from Valley Christian High School in
Chandler, Arizona where he graduated in 2004…was 1st-Team
All-Conference his junior and senior year…1st-Team All-State selection
as a senior…2002 and 2003 Arizona State Champions…played for coach Greg
Haagsma…set high school record for three-pointers in a game, season,
and career…also played football and baseball in high school…pure
shooter, one of Vanguard’s finest from long range…will continue to work
on strength and defense…left-handed with good speed…competitive player
who loves the game…solid student-athlete...will be aiming for more
after a stellar debut.
The person: Brian D. Roberts was born in Mesa, Arizona on October
10, 1985 to his parents David and Nancy Roberts…has one older sister
who also attends college in California…nickname is "Boomer"…is a
Communications major…sports hero is his dad…loves the movies "Dumb and
Dumber" and "Hoosiers"…enjoys eating seafood…enjoys watching
"Sportscenter" on television, snowboarding, eating, sleeping, and
watching movies…favorite color is blue and number is 14…is a fan of the
Phoenix Suns…would love to meet Michael Jordan…feels the biggest
problem in the world is that there are too many fake people…feels like
the best thing about his team is the unity…has learned in life to pray
often…competing in athletics has taught him to count his
blessings…wants to become a Sports Broadcaster or Basketball Coach.
His thoughts: Brian chose Vanguard because of the basketball team, the location, the people, and the Christian atmosphere.
