The
athlete: Brian graduated from Johansen High School in Modesto,
California in 2006…he enters his first season with the Lions as a true
freshman…played for Coach Tony Heintz at JHS in the Modesto Metro
Conference…named All-League First-Team and All-District Honorable
Mention two years in a row…scored a career-high 32 points twice in high
school…recorded a double-double of 24 points and 20 rebounds in one
game…voted JHS’s Best Offensive Player as senior…County and Mother Lode
All-Star selection…also played soccer and tennis in high school…has
played basketball for as long as he can remember…Brian’s father played
basketball at VUSC, formerly known as Southern California College, and
was named SCC’s Athlete of the Year in 1977…can play the forward or
guard positions…brings good size to the lineup…could contribute
offensively and defensively for the Lions…time and experience will
prepare him to succeed at the collegiate level…has a great career ahead
of him.
The person: Brian James Bergerson was born on April 18, 1988 in
Modesto, California…parents are Ted and Susie…has one older brother who
also played basketball…nickname is "Berg"…plans to study Business at
Vanguard…sports hero is his dad…loves to eat Mexican food…likes the
movie "King Kong" and the television show "Lost"…favorite color is blue
and number is three…is a Los Angeles Laker fanatic…enjoys playing music
and going to the beach…would like to meet David Robinson…believes that
the biggest problem in the world is that too many people have not heard
about God…feels his VU team is full of great guys who are very
talented…has learned from life that finding God is necessary to find
one’s self…competing in athletics has taught him that teamwork is
necessary…wants to become a teacher and a coach.
