Biography

The athlete:  Brendan begins his senior season …played in 12 games in 2004…two-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete…scored 101 points as a sophomore…played on the VU baseball team as a freshman…was a two-sport athlete at Fountain Valley High School where he led the team in scoring and rebounding…FVHS Team MVP…All-Sunset League selection for basketball…graduated from FVHS in 2000…one of the hardest workers on the Lion team…athletic and competitive…has a good understanding of the game…provides a charge off the bench for Vanguard…is the ultimate team player…will play a valuable role as a reserve this year…look for Cotter to put a strong finish on his Lion career.

The person:  Brendan Walton Cotter was born  in Long Beach, California on January 30, 1982…son of Rick and Dash Cotter…older brother is 25…nickname is “B”…majoring in Business Administration…favorite movie is “Dumb and Dumber”…enjoys watching  “Sportscenter” on TV…likes to eat chicken and mashed potatoes…roots for the LA Lakers and the Dallas Cowboys…sports hero is Matt Leinart…hobbies are going to the beach, playing golf, and hanging out with friends and family…loves the color blue and the number 24…his favorite place to be is at his mom’s house…would like to meet Jim Carrey and Larry Bird…feels that selfishness is the biggest problem in the world…has learned that things happen for a reason and that God is in control…competing in athletics has taught him about discipline, hard work, and patience…seeks a future in Investment Real Estate and wants to be a loving husband and father.

His thoughts:  Brendan selected Vanguard because of the basketball team, the faculty, and its proximity to his home.  He believes it is a place to grow spiritually and academically.

Coach Wilson’s Comments: “Brendan is the ultimate team player. He works hard everyday in practice, and without his efforts we would not have made the progress we did last season. Brendan has a vision and a purpose for his life and will be successful at whatever he does.”
