The athlete:  Tyson resumes his collegiate career with the Lions after a tremendous freshman campaign that saw him play in and start 41 games…was third on the team with a .329 batting average and had a team-leading 51 hits including  three triples, a pair of homers and 27 RBIs…spent one semester at American River Junior College…2006 graduate of Oak Ridge High School…played for Coach Russel Conner, helping ORHS win three league championships…All-League player…batted .450…has played baseball for 15 years…throws right…bats left…solid outfielder…good range and instincts…accurate eye and good hands at the plate…middle of the order LH hitter with power…strong, fast and athletic.

The person:  Tyson Wesley Leighton was born in Sacramento, California on January 8, 1988…parents are Brian and Joanne…has one brother and one sister…nickname is “Hero”…will be a Business major at VUSC…likes to eat oysters and cookie dough ice cream…favorite movie is “Anchorman” and TV show is “The X-Files”…likes the color green and the number eight…roots for the Oakland A’s…sports hero is Eric Byrnes…enjoys surfing…most respects Dan Black because he has nice teeth…knows how to have fun in everything.
