The athlete:  Tyson officially begins his collegiate career with the Lions after one semester at American River Junior College…2006 graduate of Oak Ridge High School…played for Coach Russel Conner, helping ORHS win three league championships…All-League player…batted .450…has played baseball for 14 years…throws right…bats left…solid outfielder…good range and instincts…accurate eye and good hands at the plate…could contribute right away for the Lions, offensively and defensively…competitive player with a lot of potential…joins his brother on the team in hopes of a long, successful career together.

The person:  Tyson Wesley Leighton was born in Sacramento, California on January 8, 1988…parents are Brian and Joanne…has one brother and one sister…nickname is “Hero”…will be a Business major at VUSC…likes to eat macaroni and cheese…favorite athlete is Mike Tyson…watches “Grey’s Anatomy” on television…prefers the color purple and the number eight…favorite movie and book is “The Notebook”…roots for the Jamaican Bobsled team…enjoys golfing and building paper airplanes...hasn’t learned a lot from life yet.
