The athlete: Travis is another true freshman on the Vanguard roster…comes to Vanguard from North High School in Bakersfield, California where he graduated in 2002…recorded the most times hit by a pitch in 2002…also played football and basketball in high school…bats and throws right…promising young catcher…considered one of the top recruits to the team…athletic and strong player…catcher of the future for the Lions…looking to gain experience this season in his collegiate debut…has great potential in his future with the Lions.

The person: Travis was born on December 17, 1983 in Bakersfield, California…parents are David and Susan Westerfeld…has not yet decided on a major…favorite place is a baseball field…roots for the Anaheim Angels…likes to watch “That 70’s Show”…enjoys playing racquetball and shopping cart bowling…likes the chemistry, work ethic and humor of this year’s team…not sure of what he wants to become in life but wants to play baseball as long as he can.

His thoughts: I selected Vanguard because of the friendly atmosphere. It’s also a place where I can play baseball with Christian teammates and coaches. I truly enjoy the quality of friends that I have made at VU.
