The athlete: Scott begins his senior year as a Lion…transferred to Vanguard last year after spending two season at Shasta College…named All-Golden Valley Conference in 2002…attended Red Bluff Union High School where he also played basketball…played in 45 games as a junior for VU…bats left and throws right…will see some action at first base, and be used as a designated hitter…can bring some pop into the line up…should be ready to produce more offensively this year…works hard and models an unselfish attitude…will bring solid leadership to the team…expect Scott to have a productive year.

The person: Scott was born June 30, 1981 in Red Bluff, California…parents are Chuck and Cheryl Martin…is a Business Administration major…roots for the San Francisco Giants…sports hero is Jim Thome…like the TV show “MTV Cribs”…he enjoys eating steak…is engaged to a former VU women’s basketball player…sports has taught him discipline and how to deal with failure…thinks the best thing about this year’s team is the work ethic…wants to become a successful person.

His thoughts:  I like Vanguard because it’s close to the beach, and the university gives you an opportunity to grow. I met my fiancé here!
