The athlete:  Ryan comes to Vanguard after spending the last two seasons with Head Coach Bill Mierzwik at San Bernardino Valley College in San Bernardino, California where he went 3-3 with 43.1 innings pitched…during the summer of 2008 pitched for the Ontario Mudcats of the Boise Collegiate League…graduated from San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino where he played for Head Coach Bill Eatinger…was 9-1 as a Senior and S.A.L. Champion in 2005…All-CIF, All-League, All-San Bernardino and Most Valuable Pitcher Award winner…bats and throws right…has played baseball for 15 years…played three years of club with the Inland Terror…also played soccer and ran cross country.

The person:  Ryan was born to parents Harold and Kelle in San Bernardino, California on Groundhog’s Day, 1987…has two brothers and a sister…nickname is “Volk”…major is undeclared…likes eating at “In-n-Out”…favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13…roots for the LA Angels and sports hero is Michael Jordan…likes the color blue and the number 11…favorite movie is “Gladiator” and TV Show is “Entourage”…most respects his grandpa because he is the hardest working person he knows…learned that life is short, enjoy it while you can…baseball has taught him about hard work and teamwork…would like to own his own business.
