The athlete: Robert begins his second year as a Lion…appeared in 14 games last year out of the bullpen…graduated from Calvin Christian High School in 2002 where he was a four-year starting player…named to the first-team All-Coastal League his senior season…also participated in soccer and cross country in high school…has played baseball for 14 years…bats right and throws right…should see most of his action in middle or spot relief situations…not overpowering but has good control of his pitch location…continually works to develop his skills…brings a consistent effort and a positive, highly competitive attitude to the pitching staff…will seek to increase his role as a sophomore.

The person: Robert Alan Klein was born on January 17, 1984 in Escondido, California…parents are Rock and Teri Klein…has one older and one younger brother…nickname is “Bobby”…majoring in Religion…plays the guitar in a band…sports hero is Lance Armstrong…cheers for the VU Men’s Basketball team…likes to eat sushi…enjoys watching “Everwood” on TV and spending time at the beach…believes sin is the biggest problem in the world…competing in athletics has taught him about focus and discipline…thinks that his teammates are best thing about this year’s team…wants to become a Youth Pastor.

His thoughts: I decided to come to Vanguard because it was an Assemblies of God school and I really liked the people that make up the campus.
