Biography

The athlete:  Nick continues his collegiate career with the VU Lions after a two-year stint at American River Junior College in Sacramento…played for Coach Doug Jumelet in the Bay Valley Conference…was a First-Team All-Conference and First-Team All-State selection in 2005…batted .404 with 35 RBIs as a sophomore…accumulated a 3-1 pitching record and a 2.37 ERA in 49 innings on the mound…transferred to Texas Tech in the fall of 2005 but did not compete the 2006 season…had a stellar high school career at Oak Ridge High School where he competed for Coach Russel Conner in the Sierra Valley Conference…named team MVP as a senior in 2003…also a First-Team All-League and All-City choice…named the MVP for the 2003 Optimist All-Star Game in Sacramento…drafted in the 36th round of the 2003 Major League Baseball draft by the Cincinnati Reds…also played football in high school…has played baseball as long as he can remember…big pick up for the Lions…can throw strikes with any pitch…big right-hander…good defensive first baseman…good hands and some power at the plate…another first-year player who should give the Lions a huge boost in 2007.

The person:  Nicholas Andrew Vaughn was born on January 21, 1985…parents are Steve and Diana Vaughn…has one younger sister…goes by “Nick” for short…will pursue a degree in Sociology at VUSC…sports hero is Michael Jordan…loves to eat ice cream…favorite movie is “Wedding Crashers” and TV show is “Sportscenter”…loves the color blue and the number 13…roots for the San Francisco Giants…spends free time hanging out with friends, playing beach volleyball, tennis, and badminton…thinks that terrorism is the biggest problem in the world…has learned to live life to the fullest…competing in athletics has taught him about work ethic and teamwork…would like to eventually be a good husband and father.
