The athlete:  Matthew comes to VUSC after graduating in 2006 from Summerville High School in Tuolumne, California…played for Head Coach Ryan Latronico in the Mother Lode League…three-time All-League performer who was team captain and awarded Best Overall…three-time captain and Best Offensive Player and two-time All-League football selection…two-time All-League, two-time Best Offensive Player, two-time Best Overall and three-time basketball captain…bats and throws right…has played baseball forever…controlled, athletic right hander with a good curveball.

The person:  Matthew Richard Curtis was born in Modesto, California to parents Charlie and Trisha on August 30, 1988…has three sisters…plans to major in Religion…likes eating Mexican food at “El Jardin”…likes the color blue and the number 23…favorite Bible verses are Proverbs 28:1 and 1 Peter 2:9…enjoys watching “The Office” on TV…roots for the San Francisco Giants…hobbies include playing the guitar, snowboarding, basketball, golf, football, the beach and music…learned in life to trust in God and not worry…baseball has taught him the value of hard work, determination and friendships…career goal is to work for some organization that helps people.

His thoughts:  I came to Vanguard because of the Christian atmosphere and location.
