The athlete: Matt joins his older brother Josh on the Lions’ roster this season…graduated in 2002 from Rancho Cucamonga High School…played baseball at RCHS under coach Sean Sullivan…also played football at RCHS…bats and throws right…right-handed hurler with good poise for a collegiate rookie…hard worker…solid baseball fundamentals and understanding of the game…adds depth to the VU pitching staff…looking to get experience and fill any role needed by the Lions this year.

The person: Matt was born on August 18, 1984 in Long Beach, CA…parents are Chuck and Sheryl Franco…majoring in Pre-Physical Therapy…roots for the Dodgers…favorite athlete is Cal Ripken Jr…likes to eat In-N-Out…enjoys watching “The Simpsons”…feels that this year’s team gets along very well…sports has taught him discipline…wants to become successful in life.
