Vanguard University

The athlete: Transferred to Vanguard from Spokane Falls Junior College…graduated from Cheney High in 1997 where he played baseball and basketball…all-league pitcher his senior year…mature pitcher with a very focused approach to the game…also brings spiritual leadership to the team…will see a lot of action on the mound this season.

The person:  Matthew was born October 19, 1978 in Sandpoint, Idaho…parents are Brian and Cathy Caston…call him Matt…roots for the Seattle Mariners…would like to meet Nolan Ryan…favorite television show is “Sportscenter”…enjoys reading and weight training, and loves the mountains…thinks the best thing about this year’s team is the talent…sports has taught him to battle through all of life’s issues…wants to become a teacher and an example of the power of the word of God.
