The athlete:  Marcus enters into his senior year as a Lion…has been a four-year role player for VU…led the pitching staff last year with 91.0 innings pitched…played baseball, football, and basketball at Newberg High School in Newberg, Oregon…was selected to the All-GSAC team, All-Region II team, and was an All-American Honorable Mention selection for the Lions in 2002 …bats right and throws right…has been very reliable in his first three seasons…enters 2004 with a 20-14 career record at VU…has the opportunity to be the ace of the staff…has good command of his pitches and excellent poise on the mound…always provides quality starts…VU’s winningest  pitcher over the past three years…competes passionately and provides leadership to the team in the way he goes about his business…Harris should cap his career with a great season.

The person: Marcus Andrew Harris was born October 1, 1981 in Portland, Oregon…parents are Patrick and Janis Harris…nickname is “Marky”…is a Business major…loves to eat tamales…sports hero is Michael Jordan…likes the movie “High Fidelity”…enjoys fly fishing and hunting…is engaged to a VU women’s soccer player…favorite place is the Dechuetes River…baseball has taught him how to compete…feels the best thing about this years team is the solid attitude of all his teammates…wants to be successful at whatever the future holds for him.

His thoughts: I picked Vanguard because I wanted to play baseball in the warm weather. I also like the small Christian environment here. The business professors are top notch.
