The athlete:  Josh begins his fourth and final season as a Lion…made 13 appearances on the mound for the Lions as a junior in 2003 posting a 4.91 earned run average…played baseball and football for Rancho Cucamonga High School prior to attending VU…both teams were league champs his senior year…bats right and throws right…has contributed in each of his three years at VU…will see action as a middle relief pitcher and possibly a few starts…works hard and has a great attitude…balanced athlete and person…has been a valuable member of the VU program throughout his tenure…look for Josh to be the same consistent competitor as a senior.

The person: Joshua was born June 17, 1982 in Whittier, California to his parents Chuck and Sheryl Franco…his younger brother Matthew is a sophomore on the team…nickname is “Mexican Mustang”…Marketing major…likes to eat Mexican food…watches the TV show “Sports Center”…team of choice is the LA Dodgers…enjoys surfing, hiking and anything outdoors…sports hero is Orel Hershiser…would like to meet Tommy Lasorda…athletics has taught him the importance of discipline…best things about this year’s team are the people and team chemistry…wants to be successful at whatever he does.

His thoughts: I came to Vanguard because I really enjoy the people that make up the University and I like the size. I am very thankful for all the friends I have made over the past four years.
