The athlete: Josh begins his third season at VU…made 18 appearances on the mound for the Lions as a sophomore in 2002…played baseball and football for Rancho Cucamonga High School prior to attending VU…both teams were league champs his senior year…bats right and throws right…earned a 2-0 record primarily as a middle relief pitcher out of the bullpen last year…works hard and has great attitude…balanced athlete and person…hopes to increase his role for the Lions this season.

 The person: Joshua was born June 17, 1982 in Whittier, California to his parents Chuck and Sheryl Franco…his younger brother joins the pitching staff this year…nickname is “Mexican Mustang”…Business major…likes to eat Del Taco… watches the TV show “Sports Center”…team of choice is the LA Dodgers…enjoys surfing, hiking and anything outdoors…sports hero is Eric Karros…would like to meet Tommy Lasorda…sports have taught him mental toughness and perseverance…wants to become a successful person who loves God.

His thoughts: I came to Vanguard because I felt it was the perfect fit for all I wanted in a college. I enjoy the friendly people on this campus.
