The athlete:  Jonathan transferred to Vanguard last year and used a redshirt year in 2002…came to VU from Fullerton College where he was the starting catcher for two seasons…holds FC record for times hit by pitch…ranks in FC’s top 10 in put-outs, assists, and fielding percentage…was a two-sport athlete at Western High School in Anaheim prior to college…has worked hard to get ready for this season…works well with the pitching staff…should step up as the starting catcher for the Lions this season…big key to helping Vanguard defend the 2002 Region II Championship.

The person: Jonathan was born on December 4, 1981 in Downey, California…parents are Michael and Jennifer Bower…has one brother and one sister…nickname is “JB”…sports hero is Jim Thome…favorite place is on the baseball field…likes the color blue and the number 20…roots for the USC Trojans…hobbies include playing video games, watching movies and sleeping…favorite movie is “Swingers” and likes the TV show “King of the Hill”…would like to meet Angelina Jolie…feels greed is the biggest problem in the world…has learned from life that you have to work hard to accomplish your goals…competing in baseball has taught him about hard work and the importance of camaraderie…would like to become the Defensive Coordinator for the USC Trojans.

His thoughts:  I came to Vanguard because my dad taught here and I wanted to play baseball.  I like the girl to guy ratio and that it is a small school.
