The athlete:  John rolls into VUSC after graduating in 2007 from Costa Mesa High School in Costa Mesa, California…played for Head Coach Jim Kiefer…second all-time in career homers…two-time All-League performer…MVP and Most Improved…two-time Daily Pilot Dream Teamer…named Daily Pilot and O.C. Register Athlete of the Week…bats and throws right…has played baseball for 13 years….tall, lanky frame with good speed…has power at the plate.

The person:  John Dennis Rybarczyk was born on January 18, 1989 in Orange, California to parents Ed and Tawnya…has two younger sisters…nickname is “Daddy”…plans to major in Religion…likes vanilla ice cream and eating at “Big Belly Deli”…favorite movie is “Robin Hood”, the Disney version and watches “The Office” on TV…roots for the LA Angels…sports hero is Matt Holliday…likes the color blue and the number 18…loves the Mini Cooper…enjoys surfing…most respects his father for too many reasons…learned that life is never what you think…baseball has taught him about perseverance…career goal is to be his best at what he loves.

His thoughts:  I selected Vanguard because I wanted to be a part of a community that would nurture my faith.
