Vanguard University

The athlete: Joseph transferred to VU this semester from Concordia University in Irvine…played one season for the Eagles…will be one of two lefties out of the bullpen for the Lions…not overpowering but can get the job done…played high school ball at Whittier Christian…graduated in 2001…also played football and basketball at WHS…has played baseball since he was five years old…will be a good addition to the program and to the pitching staff…will work in relief pitching role this year.

The person:  Joseph Thomas Conrad was born on May 11, 1983 in Anaheim, California…parents are Thomas and Lana Conrad…nickname is “Joey”…loves to eat pizza…enjoys watching “NYPD Blue”…cheers for the Angels…sports hero is Garret Anderson…feels the biggest problem in the world is war…enjoys going to movies and hanging out with friends…best thing about this year’s team is the team chemistry…sports has taught him about discipline…wants to become a “Sports Center” anchor.

His thoughts: I chose Vanguard because of the Christian environment and I love the location. I also wanted to be a part of the Lions tradition.
