The athlete: Joe returns for his second and final season with Vanguard…made 17 appearances on the mound for the Lions last season, in addition to being a regular starter in the outfield, at first base, or as the designated hitter…named to the 2002 All-GSAC, All-Region II, and NAIA All-America Honorable Mention teams…transferred from Iowa Western College where he played two seasons and helped his team get to the NJCAA World Series …graduated in 1999 from Ashland High School where he was a two-sport athlete…bats left and throws left…pitched a complete-game in the Region II Championship game in 2002…also batted .327and blasted 10 homeruns in 49 games played last season…big, strong, talented player…competitive nature and his senior leadership this season will be valued almost as much as his talent for the game.
