The athlete: Isaac returns for his junior year as a Lion after a great sophomore season…was second on the team with a .301 batting average in 43 games last year…did not commit one error last year in centerfield…is not afraid to get dirty…style of play is a model of determination…brings a lot of heart to the field…has a real passion for the game and is fun to watch…played baseball at Etiwanda High School…named first-team All-Mount Baldy League…has played the game for 16 years…bats left and throws left…scrappy player…excellent speed and range in the outfield…reads the ball well off the bat…gets on base a lot…smooth defensive skills…solid fundamentally with the bat…executes well…capable of doing the “little things” with the bat to help the team…fundamentally sound…brings a lot to the team…leads by example…will be the captain of the outfield this year…look for Isaac to have a great year.

The person: Isaac was born on May 9, 1984 in Monterey Park, California…parents are Ted and Angel Salazar…has three sisters Monique, Celeste, and Janelle…majoring in Exercise Sports Science…nickname is “Sac”…roots for the LA Dodgers and the VU Women’s basketball team…sports hero is Jim Edmonds…likes to eat at Mario’s Pizza…enjoys body boarding and playing video games…loves the TV show “Family Guy”…favorite color is navy blue and number is three…feels the best thing about this year’s team is that the Lions are a tight group that plays scrappy…would like to meet Mike Stewart…sports has taught him to have discipline, work ethic, and a competitive nature…wants to pursue a career in athletics.

His thoughts: I came to VU because it’s close to my favorite beach, and the campus has such a solid family environment.
