The athlete: Isaac returns for his second year as a Lion after a great freshman season…had a .314 batting average in 38 games last year…brings a lot of heart and determination to the field…has a real passion for the game and is fun to watch…played baseball at Etiwanda High School…named first team All-Mount Baldy League…has played the game for 15 years…bats left and throws left…scrappy player…excellent speed and range in the outfield…won the starting centerfield position last year…gets on base a lot…smooth defensive skills…solid fundamentally with the bat…executes well…capable of doing the “little things” with the bat to help the team…fundamentally sound…brings a lot to the team…leads by example…should be back in centerfield this season…is on track for a great sophomore year.

The person: Isaac was born on May 9, 1984 in Monterey Park, California…parents are Ted and Angel Salazar…has three sisters…majoring in Exercise Sports Science…nickname is “Sac”…roots for the LA Dodgers…sports hero is Manny Ramirez…likes to eat at In-N-Out…enjoys body boarding and X-box…loves “The Simpsons” TV show…favorite color is navy blue and number is three…best thing about this year’s team is that the players are a group of young hard-nosed ballplayers…would like to meet Jim Edmonds…sports has taught him that any team can be beat on any given day…wants to be successful and respected in any given profession.

His thoughts: I came to VU because of the location, as well as the great weather. The school has a great atmosphere to learn and grow in.
