The athlete:  Ethan returns for his second season at VUSC after appearing in 21 games in 2007…scored eight runs, had six hits in just 21 at-bats and knocked in four…played in 39 games, starting 19 for the Lions…had 12 hits, scored 13 runs, and stole five bases as a collegiate rookie…came to VU from Liberty High School in Bakersfield…2005 graduate…played for Coach Rob Amble and accumulated a 3.8 GPA at LHS…was given the Defensive Specialist award at LHS…three-sport high school athlete…has played baseball for 16 years…throws right…bats right…also played for the Coastal Rockies and the Camarillo Rockies St. Louis Cardinal scout teams…good foot speed offensively and defensively…sure-handed defender…base-stealing threat…versatile and athletic…middle infielder who will adds depth to the Lion defense…strong arm…does the little things well.

The person:  Ethan Edward Arno Gentry was born on October 12, 1986 in Oxnard, California…parents are Bill and Lynn Gentry…has two brothers and a sister…studying Athletic Training at VU…likes to eat Mexican food at “Chipotle”…favorite movie is “Dumb & Dumber”…loves the TV show “The Office”…enjoys rooting for the Angels…prefers the color blue and the number one…favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 16:9…hobbies are surfing, spending time with friends and drawing…would like to meet his sports hero Ken Griffey Jr…says faith is the most important characteristic for a person to have…learned that life is not easy…baseball has taught him about dedication and perseverance…wants to obtain a doctorate in Physical Therapy…went to Mozambique, Africa last summer and helped lead trip to Indonesia.
