The athlete:  Ethan begins his collegiate career with the Lions after a successful high school career at Liberty High School in Bakersfield…2005 graduate…played for Coach Rob Amble and accumulated a 3.8 GPA at LHS…was given the Defensive Specialist award at LHS…three-sport high school athlete…has played baseball for 14 years…throws right…switch hitter…also played for the Coastal Rockies and the Camarillo Rockies St. Louis Cardinal scout teams…good foot speed offensively and defensively…sure-handed defender…base-stealing threat…versatile and athletic…will compete for time at second base and shortstop for the Lions…has a good baseball career ahead of him…expect to see Gentry around for a long time at VUSC.

The person:  Ethan Edward Arno Gentry was born on October 12, 1986 in Oxnard, California…parents are Bill and Lynn Gentry…has two brothers and a sister…will be an Athletic Training or Pre-Physical Therapy major…loves to eat Mexican food…favorite movie is “Dumb & Dumber”…loves the TV show “Family Guy”…prefers the color blue and numbers 7 and 1…is a St. Louis Cardinal fanatic…favorite place is Kona, Hawaii…enjoys surfing and drawing…would like to meet his sports hero Ken Griffey Jr…thinks that sin is the biggest problem in the world…has learned from life to have faith in the Lord…competing in athletics has taught him about patience, work ethic and unity…wants to become a Physical Therapist.

His thoughts:  I came to Vanguard because God provided a way for me to do so.  I love the campus and the location.
