The athlete:  Dustin joins the Lion baseball program after playing a season at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas…played for Coach Pete Mejia at MCC after using a redshirt year at Baylor University…graduated from Pusch Ridge Christian Academy in Tucson, Arizona…team MVP as a senior in 2003…good control and pitch location…quality fastball…devastating change-up…good size and strength…right-hander with solid skills and experience…has played baseball for seven years…will be a huge addition to the pitching staff for Vanguard…has the talent to be a standout for the Lions…expect to see a lot of Jones in the near future.

The person:  Dustin Reid Jones was born on November 14, 1984 in Covina, California to his parents Doug and Debbie Jones…has two younger brothers who also play baseball…will major in Business at Vanguard…favorite food is dessert…watches “Sportscenter” on television…loves the color blue and the number 12…likes to listen to books on tape…roots for Vanguard…enjoys hanging out with friends…thinks that people are the biggest problem in the world…appreciates his teammates at VUSC…has learned from life to shake off the things he can’t control…competing in baseball has taught him about baseball…wants to become a good husband and father.

His thoughts:  I came to Vanguard for a second chance at playing college baseball.  I like the athletes at VUSC.
