The athlete:  Sonny returns for his second season in the Blue and Gold after seeing limited action as a collegiate freshman in 2006…played in 15 games, starting seven as a rookie…had an on base percentage of .379 last year…came to Vanguard from Cedar Park Christian in Washington…2005 graduate who was a four-year starter for Coach Stan Taloff…was an three-time All-League selection…All-State player…CPC Team MVP…played football, soccer, basketball and baseball in high school…has played baseball as long as he can remember…athletic with good fundamentals…good glove on the infield…bats right…throws right…gritty and hard working player…can play third base or second base…executes at the plate…will push for a bigger role as a sophomore…solid player who sets good examples on and off the field.

The person:  Clinton Jonathan “Sonny” Behrends was born in Kelso, Washington on June 9, 1986…parents are Clinton and LaVonne Behrends…has two sisters and a brother…everyone calls him “Sonny”…other nickname is “Niner 3”…is majoring in Religion…loves to eat steak…favorite professional players are Alex Rodriguez and Edgar Martinez…watches “The Office” on television…favorite movie is “Field of Dreams”…loves the color red and the numbers 9 and 3…enjoys reading the Bible…roots for the NY Yankees and the Seattle Mariners…hobbies include playing baseball, basketball and video games…would like to meet Jesus Christ…feels that sin is the biggest problem in the world…is confident about the pitching staff on his VU team…life has taught him about persistence…wants to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a Pastor.

His thoughts:  I feel like the Lord led me to Vanguard.  I love the atmosphere and the sunshine.
