The athlete:  Sonny comes to Vanguard from Cedar Park Christian in Washington…2005 graduate who played baseball for Coach Stan Taloff…was an all-area and all-league and all-state selection…CPC Team MVP…played football, soccer, basketball and baseball in high school…has played baseball as long as he can remember…athletic with good fundamentals…infielder with some versatility…bats right…throws right…gritty and hard working player…can play third base or second base…will compete for time on the infield…has a good future with the Lions.

The person:  Clinton Jonathan Sonny Behrends was born in Kelso, Washington on June 9, 1986…parents are Clinton and LaVonne Behrends…has two sisters and a brother…plans to major in Pastoral Leadership…nickname is “Niner 3”…loves to eat steak…favorite professional players are Alex Rodriguez and Albert Pujols…watches “Sportscenter” on television…favorite movies are “Field of Dreams” and “Gladiator”…loves the color navy blue and the number 9…enjoys reading the Bible…roots for the NY Yankees and the Seattle Mariners…prefers spending time at home…hobbies include playing baseball, basketball and video games…would like to meet Jesus Christ…feels that sin is the biggest problem in the world…likes the chemistry on his VU team…has learned from life to stay humble…wants to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a Pastor.

His thoughts:  I came to Vanguard to play baseball and for the spiritual environment on campus.  I love the sunshine, the people, and my team.
