The athlete:  Sonny returns for his final season in the Blue and Gold…started ten of the 20 games he appeared in as a junior in 2008…batted .242 with eight hits and three RBIs in 33 at-bats…2008 GSAC and NAIA Scholar Athlete Award winner…played in 29 games, starting 19 as a sophomore after seeing limited action as a collegiate freshman in 2006…drew 12 walks and had 14 hits to grab a .349 on base percentage in 2007…also pitched an inning of scoreless relief from the bullpen…played in 15 games, starting seven as a rookie…had an on base percentage of .379 last year…came to Vanguard from Cedar Park Christian in Washington…2005 graduate who was a four-year starter for Coach Stan Taloff…was a three-time All-League selection…All-State player…CPC Team MVP…played football, soccer, basketball and baseball in high school…has played baseball 17 years…athletic, with good fundamentals…good glove on the infield…bats right…throws right…gritty and hard working player…can play third base or second base…tough gamer that loves to get dirty.

The person:  Clinton Jonathan “Sonny” Behrends was born in Kelso, Washington on June 9, 1986…parents are Clinton and LaVonne Behrends…has two sisters and a brother…everyone calls him “Sonny”…other nickname is “Niner 3”…is majoring in Religion…loves to eat at “Great China”…favorite athlete is Ken Griffey Jr.…watches “The Office” on television…favorite movie is “Gladiator”…loves the colors red and blue and the number 24…enjoys reading the Bible…roots for the Seattle Mariners…favorite Scripture is Jeremiah 29:11-13…hobbies include playing basketball and golf…most respects his father and sister because they both have tremendous drive and faith in the Lord…baseball has taught him about humility and perspective…career goal is to help turn America back to Christ…happily engaged to Whitney Walker.
