The athlete:  Chris comes back for his junior year and his second with the Lions…started eight games as a sophomore throwing a complete game and getting a pair of wins in 11 total appearances…played one season at Cornell University after completing his high school career at Resurrection Christian School in Colorado…graduated from high school in 2005, carrying a 3.7 GPA in the classroom…Three-time All-State baseball player…2005 Pitcher of the Year for Colorado 2A…four-time Team MVP…had a .88 ERA and .535 batting average in high school…four-sport high school athlete…played basketball, baseball, football, and soccer…has played baseball since he was five years old…throws right…bats left…recorded 40 strikeouts and a 4.15 ERA in 43.1 innings pitched while at Cornell…hard worker that is strong and athletic…hard thrower with good movement…nasty curveball.

The person:  Christopher Tad Carls was born on April 28, 1987 in San Jose, California to his parents Tad and Laurie Carls…has one brother…people just call him “Chris” for short…plans to major in Intercultural Studies at Vanguard...sports hero is Michael Jordan…loves to eat Mexican food…favorite movie is “The Natural” and TV show is “Sportscenter”…likes the color green and the number five…is a fanatic of the Colorado Rockies…hobbies are playing the guitar and drums, making music, and watching movies…says honesty is the most important characteristic for a person to have…most respects his father because he is the man he wants to be…learned perseverance through adversity because of baseball…career goal is to play professionally and become a missionary.

His thoughts:  I selected Vanguard because of the baseball team, the community, and the people on campus.
