The athlete:  Brett comes to the Lions after transferring from West LA Junior College in Culver City, California where he was a Scholar-Athlete for Head Coach Bob Grant…batted .319 with a pair of homers and 16 RBIs for the Wildcats…spent freshman season at Cal State Dominguez Hills with Head Coach Murphy Sua…made four starts in 15 appearances and batted .300 in 200 at-bats…graduated from Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach, California in 2006 and was an All-League selection as a junior…went 5-1 as a starting pitcher while also batting .350 as a junior…switch-hitter and throws left…also played hockey…played two years with the So. Cal Bombers.

The person:  Brett R. Halstead was born on September 13, 1988 to parents Bob and Deann in Northridge, California…is an only child…majoring in Business Administration…likes eating Mexican food at “El Paso Cantina”…likes the color red and the number 13…favorite movie is “The Three Amigos” and TV show is “Grey’s Anatomy”…roots for the LA Angels and the New England Patriots…sports hero is Torii Hunter…baseball has taught him to be humble…says punctuality is the most important characteristic for a person to have…career goal is to work in the front office for a baseball team.

His thoughts:  I came to Vanguard because the baseball program was heading the right direction.
