The athlete: Brent joins the Lions pitching staff after spending the 2003 season at Hawaii Pacific University and the 2002 season at Orange Coast College…is a local player from Fountain Valley…attended Fountain Valley High School…played under coach Ron LaRuffa…comes to the Lions with a lot of pitching experience at the collegiate level…Brent will be a valuable member of the VU staff this year…should throw a lot of innings for the Lions…will battle for a spot in the starting rotation…really enjoys playing the game…brings players around him up to his level of enthusiasm…look for Erickson to make a mark this year on the mound. 

The person: Brent August Erickson was born on November 18, 1981 in Santa Ana, California…parents are Steve and Diane Erickson…one of three kids in the family…majoring in Business…favorite TV show is “That 70’s Show”…loves to eat at “Golden Spoon”…cheers for the L.A. Dodgers…enjoys the book “Catcher in the Rye”…sports hero is Ben Wallace…best thing about this year’s team is the talent…learned from life that it is what you make of it…wants to become a baseball player.

His thoughts: I chose Vanguard because it is close to home and I like the small school environment. I also wanted to be a part of the baseball team. I really enjoy the Business program.
