The athlete: Bishop is back for his third season at Vanguard…the junior southpaw made 10 appearances on the mound last season…posted a 2.45 ERA, lowest on the team, in 14.2 innings pitched…local athlete who graduated from Los Amigos High School in Fountain Valley…holds school record for strikeouts and innings pitched…career high is 10 strikeouts in one game…bats left and throws left…very hard worker…provides valid relief work from the left side…strong athlete…has been hampered some by injuries but is looking towards a healthy and successful season in 2003.

 The person: Bishop was born in Fountain Valley, California to Jim and Rosie Griggs…is a History/ Political Science major…likes to eat pizza…sports hero is Nolan Ryan…cheers for the Anaheim Angels…favorite movie is “Usual Suspects”… feels the world’s biggest problem is violence…likes the chemistry on this year’s team…playing baseball has taught him teamwork and determination…seeks a career as a History Teacher.
