The athlete: Andrew begins his third and final season at Vanguard…coming off a strong 2006 season, recording a team-high eight saves in 17 relief appearances…pitched 16.2 innings as VU’s closer last year…has made 26 appearances on the mound, pitching 41.2 innings in his VU career…joined the VU baseball team after spending a year at San Diego State University…did not compete in athletics…played his high school ball at Mt. Whitney HS in Visalia, CA...played for coaches Mike Lewis and Dan Hydash…MWHS Team MVP…also played football at MWHS…has played baseball for 14 years…solid 12/6 breaking ball…good hard stuff, upper 80s or possibly low 90s…should provide senior leadership on VU’s pitching staff in 2007…expect Riddle to post a solid finish to his collegiate baseball career.

The person: Andrew Gregory Riddle was born in Visalia, California on March 2, 1984…father is Greg Riddle and mother is Joellen Gilman…has two brothers and two sisters…nickname is “Riddler”…Business Administration student at Vanguard…sports hero is Paul Lo Duca…favorite color is Dodger blue…watches “The Office” on television…favorite movie is “Saving Silverman”…enjoys reading the Bible…roots for the LA Dodgers…loves the number 23…biggest problem in the world is self-centeredness…would like to meet Dwight Schrute…has learned from life that patience is a virtue…competing in athletics has taught him that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose…would like to be a General Manager or a Sports Agent.

Andrew’s Closing thoughts: I would like people to remember me as a fierce competitor whenever I stepped on the field.
