Vanguard University

The athlete: Aaron comes to Vanguard after spending a year at the University of New Mexico…played football at UNM and University of Hawaii…had a short one-year stint at Saddleback College and The Master’s College as a baseball player…a native of Temecula, California…played high school ball at Chaparral High School…has a plus arm…can make the spectacular play…has good speed with great range…loves to be on the field…is very aggressive and provides a spark…look for Barret to have a solid senior season for the Lions.

The person: Aaron was born in Corona, California on May 14, 1983…the proud son of David and Pamela Barret…is pursuing a degree in History…has two brothers, Joel and Adam, and two sisters, Ashlee and Amanda…roots for the VU women’s volleyball team…loves to listen to contemporary Christian music…enjoys the movies “Rudy” and “The Natural”…favorite food is Mama musquiz cooking…would love to meet his grandfather…feels the biggest problems in the world are anger, selfishness and pride…best thing about this year’s team is that we care about each other…wants to become a husband and a daddy.

His thoughts: I chose Vanguard because it’s a Christian school with an outstanding athletic program. I enjoy being a part of a great team. 

Coach Mallernee’s comments: Aaron is a great addition to the VU baseball program. He leads by example and always gives it his all, on and off the field.
