.FULLERTON, Calif. – Vanguard women's track and field made a short trip to Cal State Fullerton for the Ben Brown Invitational this Friday, competing in the second day of the two-day event.
Kaylee Best was the highest VU finisher of the small brigade who competed at the Titan Track Complex, netting a top-five finish in the triple jump.
What Happened? Best finished in a tie for third with UNLV's Kayli Middleton in the triple jump. The freshman capped off an 11.97m (39' 3¼") leap on her sixth and final attempt to lock down her spot. Joining her in heat two was
Kolena Apana, who had her best try on her first attempt, finishing in 10th place with a 11.27m (36' 11¾").
Freshman
Rebecca Sicotte competed in her second shot put event with the Blue and Gold, putting out a 7.93m (26' 0¼") on her first try.
As for the runners,
Megan Charley was the best finisher with a personal-best 2:13.12 in the 800m race to claim sixth place.
Elizabeth Betten came in at 12.33 in the 100m dash, tying 24th. She was also the only VU representative in the 200m dash, wheeling in at 25.29.
Mary Sawczuk finished in 14th in the women's 1500m, coming in at 4:52.27.
What's Next? Women's track and field will be back at it tomorrow for the Occidental Invitational at Jack Kemp Stadium in Los Angeles.
