COSTA MESA -- Vanguard women's wrestling took part in its second Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship Sunday and got two winners inside the Freed Center for Leadership and Service, but Menlo took the team title for the second year in a row with a 38-7 dual win. VU was open at four weight classes.

Alexis Garza pushed Navjot Wara out of the circle in the first period to take the first point, but Wara did the same to level things at 1-1. Garza then made the first takedown to lead 3-1 at the break, and in a hectic scramble to start the second period, Garza made a four-point move to extend her edge to 7-3. Wara made a couple of scoring moves to cut the gap, but Garza won by decision.

Loretta Lopez faced Hayden Fry and Lopez made a first-period takedown to snag a 2-0 advantage. Lopez made one more before the end of the half and led 4-0 entering the second frame. With three more takedowns in the next half, Lopez put up a 10-0 technical fall victory.

Elena Ramirez's opponent, but Narahara put up a 10-0 decision in the first period.

Lily Avalos faced Louisa Schwab, but Avalos could not get a point, falling 11-0 at the horn of the first period.

Marina Hernandez tried to knock off Alexandra Lopez, but Lopez made a pin within the first minute.

Abbie Hock and Kalila Shrive concluded the contested encounters and Shrive won 13-0 in the first period.
