VU Baseball is Seventh in Preseason Poll

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Pacific West Conference baseball is rapidly approaching, and the preseason poll for the Lions has tabbed them to finish seventh in the conference. The Blue and Gold received 80 points after the voting process and the squad sits just underneath local foes Concordia University Irvine, who had 84 points in sixth.

Three different teams received first-place votes, but the Sea Lions of Point Loma sit atop the poll this year with 134 points and four first-place votes, with the Warriors of Westmont close on their tails with 129 points and seven first-place votes. The Sharks of Hawaii Pacific take the last first-place vote and the final spot on the preseason podium with 112 votes, nine points ahead of fourth-place Jessup.

Westmont edged out the 2025 regular season championship and finished with a 43-14 overall and 33-10 mark in conference action, beating out the Sea Lions, who had a PacWest record of 32-12. The Warriors then completed the sweep by also winning the conference tournament hosted in Fresno last spring. Both Westmont and Point Loma represented the PacWest Conference at the National Tournament in 2025.

Before opening PacWest play, the Lions host two home series at Dean Harvey Field against Saint Martin's (Wash.) and Stanislaus State, before traveling to Rocklin to begin conference action against the Jessup Warriors.
