COSTA MESA -- The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation has announced the Wrestlers of the Week and Fernando Barreto Jr. was named as the men's winner today.  Barreto Jr. nets his first MPSF weekly win and becomes the second Lion to net the honor this season.
 
The Lions went to the Tracy Borah Duals hosted by Western Colorado on Saturday and Barreto Jr. was one of two Lions to go 3-1 on the day. Included in his ledger was a 16-4 win over #9 Eddie Bowman of CSU Pueblo (from the December National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings).  He also beat Apollo Cruz of Colorado Mesa 23-8 and Western Colorado's Calden Beagley 22-5.  His lone defeat was to #13 Kieran Thompson of Adams State 7-0. This was his first day of competition of the season and his form looks good as he attempts to make another deep postseason run after an NWCA All-American finish in 2024-25.
