2025 Fall Schedule Release

COSTA MESA -- With the news that Vanguard Athletics is officially a full member of the NCAA Division II, the department is ready to release the 2025 fall schedules.  Women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's cross are a little over a month away from returning to campus for preseason activities, and those squads have the first chance in school history to reach a Pacific West Conference Tournament or NCAA national tournament.   Women's volleyball gets the honor of opening the 2025-26 year at home on September 4, and cross country hosts its VU Invite the next morning at Mason Regional Park in Irvine.  Men's soccer gets its home slate going on September 11th, while the women open their home program on the 13th.  At the end of the fall calendar, cross country races at the PacWest Championships on October 25, the soccer tournaments start on November 13 and the inaugural women's volleyball tournament begins November 20.  Read on for further details about each schedule.

Cross Country
  • More information about the VU Invite can be found here.
  • VU has events at UC Riverside, The Master's, and Santa Clara to round out the campaign.
  • The PacWest Championships are being hosted by Hawaii Pacific on Oahu on Saturday, October 25.

Women's Soccer
  • Nine home games and seven away games in 2025.
  • The first home game is September 13 vs. CSU Los Angeles at 11:00 a.m., the first of five home games in a row to open the year.
  • Colorado Christian is a first-time opponent for VU.
  • The first PacWest game is at home against Jessup on October 4 at 10:00 a.m., as the women will play first during PacWest doubleheaders this season.
  • VU travels to Hawaii for the first time for PacWest games on October 9 and 11.
  • CSULA finished third in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), the top placer in 2024 of the four CCAA schools that the Lions will play this year.
  • The Blue and Gold face eight teams this season that finished over .500 in 2024.
  • Point Loma, APU, Hawaii Hilo, and CUI all made the NCAA Regional hosted by PLNU, though none of them could get past eventual national champions Cal Poly Pomona, who won the Regional bracket.
  • Senior Day is November 8 when Menlo comes to close out the regular season, with the ceremony taking place before the 11:00 a.m. kickoff.

Men's Soccer
  • Seven home games and nine away games in 2025.
  • The first home game is September 11 against CSU San Bernardino at 4:00 p.m.
  • The first PacWest game is at home against Jessup on October 4 at 12:30 p.m., as the men play second during PacWest doubleheaders this year.
  • VU travels to Hawaii for the first time for PacWest games on October 9 and 11.
  • The Lions play five CCAA schools during the non-conference portion of the season.  Of those five, CSU Dominguez Hills went the furthest in 2024, as the Toros won the CCAA regular season and tournament titles before losing to CSULA in the NCAA Regional semifinal.
  • PLNU and Westmont made the NCAA Regional for the PacWest, but both programs lost their first game.
  • The Lions take on seven programs that had winning records in 2024.
  • Senior Day is November 8 when Menlo comes to close out the regular season with a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.

Women's Volleyball
  • 14 home matches and 12 away games in 2025.
  • The first home game is September 4 against Regis University (Colo.) at 6:00 p.m.
  • The first PacWest game is at home against Hawaii Pacific on September 25 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Vanguard will play in the APU/CUI Tournament and co-host a tournament with Biola during the first weeks of the campaign.
  • Because of the unbalanced PacWest schedule, there will be seven games against PacWest opponents that will not count toward Vanguard's conference record this fall.
  • Regis, Texas's Woman's, Stanislaus State, and Texas Permian Basin are all first-time opponents for the Blue and Gold.
  • The schedule features four out-of-state teams, with Texas Woman's holding the best 2024 record of the group at 19-10, which includes a 0-1 mark at the NCAA Regional.
  • Vanguard squares off against three CCAA schools in the new season. Stanislaus did the best of that trio in 2024 with a 22-8 record, as the Warriors won the CCAA Tournament title but lost to Chaminade in the NCAA Regional round.
  • Chaminade went 20-0 in the PacWest to win the league, but both the Silverswords and PLNU went 1-1 at the NCAA Regionals.
  • The Blue and Gold face 12 teams that had a winning record last fall.
  • Senior Day will be November 14 when CUI arrives for a 7:30 p.m. match.
  • The PacWest Tournament debuts for women's volleyball after soccer added postseason tournaments last year.
