LONG BEACH, Calif. -- The Vanguard men's golf team received its first Pacific West All-Conference golfer as Alexander Elia was named to the Second Team.  The freshman had a great debut for the Blue and Gold in 2024-25, pacing VU with a 74.2 scoring average for the year.  He concluded the campaign with a top 10 ranking in the PacWest on Clippd, the scoring system used to rank all DII teams and players and the metric for determining All-Conference honorees.
 
Elia ended #147 in the country and showed his potential at the Vanguard Fall Invite with a seventh-place finish (76-77-72).  He ended the fall with 144 total strokes at the HPU Sharks Shootout (73-71), and he carried his good form into the spring.  He finished in the top 10 in three of his final four events and he placed in the top five in two of those tournaments.  His first was a two-round low score of 143 at the Maverick Desert Classic that included a season-best single round of 69 to land tied for fifth.  He then finished tied for third at the Hanny Stanislaus Invite with a best three-round score of 218 (75-71-72).  He repeated that score at the PacWest Championship to end tied for ninth (74-74-70), setting his spring scoring average at 73.3.
